The geomagnetic guidance system is a specialized device used in trenchless engineering applications, employing the Earth’s magnetic field to locate and correct underground drilling trajectories. The equipment utilizes magnetic azimuth data to guide steering operations, with signal transmission capability unaffected by construction length, making it suitable for large-scale crossing projects. In domestic engineering applications, it has achieved a record operational depth of -60 Meter. The system operates based on Earth’s magnetic field measurements, with the positioning system providing real-time azimuth data. Steering personnel use these parameters to issue operational commands to the driller. Azimuth accuracy is a core performance metric but is susceptible to external interference from ferromagnetic materials, Kabel, and other sources. To address this issue, the R&D team developed a ground beacon positioning system, which enables real-time deviation correction by deploying artificial magnetic field markers.
